Wombat’s Den is set just minutes from Gembrook village, but once you arrive it feels a world away. The property directly adjoins Bunyip State Park, with bush tracks, a fern-lined creek, open clearings and plenty of quiet corners to discover across the property.
Our three cabins each offer their own character and outlook. Banksia and Grevillea are designed for two, while the two-bedroom Lakehouse is ideal for couples travelling together or small adult groups. All three are self-contained, with private outdoor spaces, full kitchens and fireplaces for cooler evenings.
Nature is very much part of the stay. Kangaroos are regular visitors, wombats move through the property after dark, and the surrounding forest is home to koalas, lyrebirds and a wide variety of native birdlife. Guests can spend their time exploring the property, relaxing on the verandah or simply enjoying the stillness of the bush.
Wombat’s Den also makes an easy base for discovering Gembrook and the wider Eastern Dandenong Ranges. Local food and wine, Puffing Billy, gardens, walking trails and small-town experiences are all close by, making it easy to do as much or as little as you like during your stay.
